Harmful sugars and omega 3 oils....

Brain expert Dr Dharma, Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D, sent an email today which quotes research that insulin resistance inside your brain is a direct cause of Alzheimer’s disease.

And, that at least to some degree Alzheimer’s disease and type 2 diabetes have similar causes.

And, it’s not just damage that is caused over years and years either.

A study found that:  "…. rats consuming water laced with high-fructose corn syrup had learning and memory problems after just six weeks.

What the study also showed was that their brain tissue became less responsive to insulin.

Finally, the study showed that rats consuming high-fructose corn syrup water alongside omega-3-fatty acids seemed to escape the cognitive problems the other group encountered."

1.  This means that small amounts of high fructose corn syrup consumed every day are unusually harmful in less than two months.

2.  To me, that means that high fructose corn syrup is harmful enough, no one knowing this should ingest any of it at all even occasionally.

3.   And regular use of small amounts of high fructose corn syrup such as eating a variety of foods that contain it each week or drinking regular soft drinks each week or both is NOT a good idea if you value your health and mental competence!

4.  But unbelievably there is more!

The fact that omega 3 oils protect against the effects of high fructose corn syrup even some show that high fructose corn syrup also boosts chronic inflammation and the increase in triglycerides it is also known to cause shows that it increases the small particle LDL that causes plaque buildup in the blood vessels.

(We know that adequate intake of omega 3 oils and particularly the omega 3 oil DHA reduces both chronic inflammation levels and triglyceride levels.)

High chronic inflammation and lack of blood flow to the brain caused by plaque buildup ALSO each can cause mental decline and Alzheimer’s disease.

5.  In fact, it’s NOT yet well known but the fastest way to protect your heart from a heart attack is NOT taking statin drugs.

The fastest way is to eliminate things that spike blood sugar and get adequate omega 3 oils at the same time.

Things to stop entirely and immediately to do this include high fructose corn syrup, agave nectar, concentrated fruit juice, fruit juice, artificial sweeteners, & all wheat products; and cut consumption of real sugar to 5% of calories at most -- but less than 2% is better.

And, it’s equally important to take an omega 3 oil supplement AND a DHA supplement.

(Nordic Naturals sells an omega 3 supplement with lemon which has virtually no fishy aftertaste.  And, Jarrow sells a DHA supplement.  I take two a day of the omega 3 and one a day of the DHA.  And, I eat a double sized serving of wild caught salmon twice a week.

I do some other things.  But eliminating these extra sugars and adding these omega 3 sources, has worked for me!  My triglycerides were 150 when I was just doing exercise and avoiding soft drinks.  My triglycerides measured 21 last time!

That’s a 7 to one safer level for heart disease risk and mental decline risk.)
