Gotu Kola restores
brain cells and memory. It causes nerves
to grow and connect to other brain cells!
Tests on people who took gotu kola with mild cognitive impairment showed
clear improvement in memory and functioning.
I got an email suggesting
that it was a cure for Alzheimer’s.
The evidence
suggests that taking it IS effective enough that taking it is well worth doing.
(Since I read that
it causes brain nerves to grow and connect to other brain cells, I’ve been
taking two a day of Gotu Kola 450 mg capsules from the supplement company NOW.)
But there is a lot
more to turning off or preventing Alzheimer’s.
So, if the larger
set of things are done and taking Gotu Kola is added, it may be quite
effective.
If they are not
done, taking Gotu Kola may be helpful but is far short of a cure by itself.
Dr Dale Bredesen in
his book, The End of Alzheimer’s, based on his research, found that there
are three categories of things that cause Alzheimer’s disease:
1. Excessive inflammation that causes the body
to attack brain cells.
2. Nutrient
deficiencies that prevent brain maintenance and repairs.
3. Toxic substances that harm or kill brain
cells.
The good news is
that a protocol that fixes the all the problems in each of these areas prevents
Alzheimer’s and even has reversed it in later stages.
(The partial and
biased studies that say the contrary are not accurate or complete enough. So
their conclusions are incorrect.)
The bad news is that
can be a lot of work to set up and do each day.
The better news is
that there are a few things that you can do in each of the three areas that are
doable and create up to 90% of the needed effects!
1. Excessive inflammation that causes the body
to attack brain cells.

grain oils and deficiencies in omega 3 oils cause excessive chronic
inflammation
Remove wheat and soy
oil and the other grains and grain oils and all MSG from your diet and eat
organic vegetables and wild caught fish and take omega 3 oils from fish and the
omega 3 oil DHA. Take the
anti-inflammatory supplements curcumin and ginger and/or eat turmeric in
curried foods or eat ginger.
2. Nutrient deficiencies that prevent brain
maintenance and repairs.
Many people in the
United States -- and those who have
adopted the cheap but harmful foods and drinks that became widespread here -- are
deficient in key vitamins and minerals the brain and its cells need to function
and repair damage.
Worse, one of the
most important nutrients, magnesium, is depleted by eating sugars and
grains. So people who ingest a lot of
sugars and don’t eat foods high in magnesium or take supplements are very
deficient. So, don’t eat many sugars;
eat or drink no artificial sweeteners, and take at least 400 mg a day of
magnesium.
Deficiency of the
methyl B12 form the body uses directly causes mental decline. Some people taking certain drugs and some
older people cannot digest it. Vegans get none.
The solution is to chew a lozenge or two or three each day of a methyl
B12 supplement. NOW makes the 1000 mcg
ones I take. The methyl B12 is then absorbed directly into your blood vessels
in your mouth and tongue.
Folate in organic
vegetables is essential to growing new brain cells. It even has been shown to
have anti-aging effects.
Some people convert
folic acid they take as a supplement to folate but some do not. So eating organic vegetables almost every day
or taking a methyl folate supplement is better.
Vitamin K2 is
essential because it causes your body to remove calcium from your blood vessels
and use it to build your bones. (Jarrow
makes a 90 mcg softgel that I take daily.)
There are many other
nutrients of course but these four are crucial to get enough of.
3. Toxic substances that harm or kill brain
cells.
Tobacco, tobacco
smoke, and nicotine are so toxic that eliminating your exposure them 100% will
cut your chances of getting Alzheimer’s fully in half!
MSG is both toxic to
the brain and very pro-inflammatory. So
avoiding it as close to 100% as you can
helps prevent Alzheimer’s two of the three ways.
Hydrogenated
vegetable oils harm the brain by directly causing disease in the blood vessels
in the brain. Worse, since your body
does not process it well, the only safe intake is zero. Ingesting even a small amount several times a
week builds up to a very harmful blood level.
BHA, glyphosate, and
metals in your drinking water other than magnesium are also toxic. Removing them from the water you drink and
cook with using an effective water filter also helps.
Conclusion:
Doing the basics to
turn off each of the three causes of Alzheimer’s is effective.
Taking Gotu Kola too
may be even more effective!
